The winner of the traffic competition was www.kotobot.com with over 41,000 visits. that is just amazing! ( congratulations to Jim & Des).  My results 27!!!

At first I found this very depressing.  I thought about it for a while and realized I had to start again so I’m reading all Alex Jeffreys ebooks.  In Alex’s 3rd ebook - Post Launch Profit Secrets I came across the following paragraph:-

“When I started out, I was failing all the time and I used to think I was a failure, but failing is totally part of success, failure comes with success and many of the best business people in the world will tell you, that failure is part of success and you’ve got to fail, because when you do it the first time you fail. ” ( www.PostLaunchProfits.com/Secrets )

I’ve heard Alex talk about failing forward and thought I’d understood what it meant.  Experiencing it gives you an understanding on a very different level.  Yes I had failed but I had taken action and moved forward and now had a foundation to work on.  By taking action I have now got more knowledge of what’s involved and can now make a plan.

I can’t wait for my next failure!

    List Building with Alex

  • 03Jan

Today is the last day for Alex’s list building comp.  At last I have some traffic trickling in. It is a great idea for concentrating the mind.  I tend to try to make everything perfect before I let anyone else see it but I’m learning to “just do it” and get it right later.  I’ve got google adwords tracking which is new to me and I love it.  My favourite bit is tracking where in the world my visitors are coming from.  It’s quite a buzz to think someone thousands of miles away in a country I’ve hardly heard of is reading my posts.

I’ve updated my profile on twitter and added a photo, I’m suprised at the followers I’ve got already. You can follow me at http://twitter.com/Andy_Lindsay

As I thought I spent Christmas out of internet contact. At one point I had to drive 3 miles down the road and park in a lay-bay just to get reception on my wireless broadband to pick up my email.  Now I’m back but I’ve blown my chances in the competition.
I can’t get my squeeze page to work.  When I enter my details and click the “send” button I just get garbage.  The good thing is the name and email is saved and the autoresponder sends out my first email.  So what I’ve done is put a link to the download page in the email.  Now at least I can start my adwords campaign and get some traffic coming in while I sort the problem out.

Alex has set us a challenge for homework.  We have to drive as much traffic as possible to our blogs by January 1st 2009.  The prize for the person with the most traffic judged by google analytics wins £1,000 !

That was Friday and we are now on day three. Luckily I had just got my blog up and running, having had to transfer it from another domain.  The only thing I know about driving traffic to your site is a very scanty knowledge of Google Adwords, so this is where I’ve started. So far on day three I’ve had 9 visits and 1 user, so I guess they’re all my visits.

I must do a plan as with Christmas coming up and It will be another five days lost through the holiday.  I find it very difficult drawing up a plan for something I know nothing about.

As I mentioned in my previous post I’m about four weeks into Alex Jeffery’s Coaching programme.  Wow! what a find this was.

The reason I signed up was Alex’s massive enthusiasm.  Last night’s conference call was 2 hours on social marketing and community building.  I have certainly changed my views on this and could even become a convert.  I’ll be writing a lot more on this later as it’s proving to be very exciting but for now I’m off to do my home work!
